Mount Kerinci, Padang

Mount Kerinci is the highest mountain in Sumatra, Indonesia's highest volcano, the highest peak in Indonesia and outside Papua. Mount Kerinci is located in Bukit Barisan Mountains, near the west coast, and is located about 130 km south of Padang. The mountain is surrounded by dense forests of Kerinci Seblat National Park and is a habitat for Sumatran tigers and Sumatran rhino.

Summit of Mount Kerinci is at an altitude 3805 meters above sea level, here we can see in the distance stretches a beautiful view of the city of Jambi, Padang and Bengkulu. Even the vast Indian Ocean can be seen clearly. Mount Kerinci has a crater of 400 x 120 meters and contains water that is green. To the east there is a lake Bento, the highest clear watery swamp in Sumatra. Behind him are seven mountains with a beautiful crater almost untouched. Mount Kerinci volcano is a stratovolcano-type is still active and last erupted in 2009.

Mount Kerinci cone-shaped with a width of 13 km (8 miles) long and 25 km (16 miles), stretching from north to south. At its peak in the northeast there is a crater as deep as 600 meters (1969 feet) of water is green. Until now, the crater-sized 400 x 120 meters is still active status.

Mount Kerinci is included in the section of the Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS). TNKS is a conservation area which has an area of ​​1.48465 million hectares and is located in the four provinces, which are mostly located in Jambi area. TNKS itself is part of the Bukit Barisan Mountains that extends from north to south on the island of Sumatra.
